Hello everyone, I'd thought I would recommend a good author to you guys, Neil Gaiman. He is one of my favs and has been around for many, many years. He has been involved with several movies including ones based on his stories, such as Stardust, and Coraline, as well as writing the screenplay to Beowulf (the 2007 CGI movie).
Anyway, if you get chance, read some of his stuff even if you did see one of the above movies and were not impressed. I don't think his books translate well into movies (was not impressed by the movie Stardust - loved the book, though); however, I have not seen Coraline. I have heard it is pretty amazing, after all it is directed by Henry Selick (one of the geniuses behind The Nightmare Before Christmas).
He wrote one of my all time favorite books, Neverwhere. Neverwhere is set in London, England; I guess you could call it an urban fantasy. For more information about Neil Gaiman, check out his website: http://www.neilgaiman.com/ .
